School Wide Testing

School Wide Testing

Posted on April 17, 2024

Parents and Students,

The school year is nearing an end and we have School-Wide testing right around the corner.  Again, this year we will be participating in the Smarter Balanced Assessment provided by the Oregon Department of Education.  These tests include an assessment on Math, Reading, Writing and Science.  The assessments are taken by 7th, 8th and 11th graders each year.  In addition to the state level assessments, we will be finishing our district and school-wide assessments with the iReady diagnostic assessment in both Reading and Math.

OREGON’S STATEWIDE TESTS…

  • …are created by educators in Oregon and across several other states
  • …challenge your child to think critically and apply their knowledge across a variety of contexts
  • …go beyond multiple choice and ask your child to explain their answers
  • …act as a snapshot of your child’s progress that may be considered along with other pieces of information to determine your child’s academic success
  • …help schools and districts evaluate their systems of teaching and learning, as well as identify groups of students whose academic needs may not be adequately met
  • …help communities understand how well their public schools are performing

Testing Dates (Week of…)

  • April 22nd – Reading Testing (7th, 8th, 11th Only)
  • April 29th – Math Testing (7th, 8th, 11th Only)
  • May 6th – Science Testing (8th, 11th Only)
  • May 20th – iReady Reading and Math (All Grades)

What to bring?

  • Headphone, Charged Chromebook, Water, Snack

How long is the test?

  • About 1 to 1.5 hours for each assessment (there is no time limit)

When will I get the scores?

  • iReady – Scores will be mailed home with the end of the year report cards
  • SBAC – Scores will be mailed home at the beginning of next year.

We want all of our students to ROCK the assessments in the coming weeks in order to gather data and see their growth.  Thank you for supporting us with the end of the year assessments.

TIGERS ROCK!!
