Students and Families:

SUMMER SCHOOL at TAFT

Summer School Information

  • When: June 17th -18th, 21st to 25th, 28th to 30th & August 16th to 20th
  • Time: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
    • Please see exact times and dates for CTE programs
  • Where: At Taft 7-12
  • Teachers: All Summer school courses will be taught or advised by a Taft teacher! (Edmentum courses will still be completed online, student should attend summer school to get support)
  • Transportation – Provided to all students, as needed
  • Meals: Free Breakfast and Lunch will be available to all students
  • Taft 7-12 will be following all Safety and COVID guidance during the in-person summer school sessions.

4 Programs!! 

7th Grade Students

  • Summer Bridge Program – The Math & Science Bridge 7th grade program strengthens understanding to fill content gaps prior to the students 8th grade year.  The content focus areas include rational number operations and concepts, algebraic expressions and equations, proportionality, and measurement.
  • For any 7th graders going into 8th Grade

  • Students and families will be notified the first week of June to confirm transportation and attendance.

8th Grade Students

  • Summer Bridge Program – The Algebra Readiness program strengthens students’ understanding of fundamental math and algebraic concepts to provide a solid foundation for success in Algebra 1.
  • For any 8th Graders going into 9th Grade

  • Students and families will be notified the first week of June to confirm transportation and attendance.

Any 9th to 11th Grade Students

  • EDMENTUM – All students who have not completed their on-line Edmentum courses will have an opportunity to complete the courses during summer school.  All on-line courses must be completed by August 20th in order to receive credit towards graduation.  Edmentum students will have access to their classes in-person during summer school hours and at-home all summer.  The goal is to have all open courses completed by August 20th
  • General Education Students – Any students currently attending in-person.  If you have failed a course this school year then you may sign up & attend summer school to complete an individual learning plan.  Learning plans will be given to students to complete in order to receive credit toward graduation. Student will work with their teachers and admin to determine the courses they are able to complete.
  • Teacher support – Select teachers will be facilitating, teaching and advising students to complete their plans for credit.

Any 9th to 11th Grade CTE Students

  • LCSD Career and Technical Education Exploration Programs are FREE and only available to students at their local high school. OCCC offerings are also FREE and open to all students from Taft, Newport, Toledo Jr-Sr High, and Waldport High School. Lunch will be available at all LCSD sites. Please register by May 28, 2021.
